FAQ

PrintACube makes MTG proxy cubes that are built for one thing: a great draft night. If you are wondering what you get, how lists work, what “540 for $100” really means, or how to prep your cube for sleeves and shuffling, you are in the right place.

Ordering and products

What is PrintACube?

PrintACube is a service for printing high-quality MTG cubes as proxy play pieces, so you can draft the environment you want without chasing down every card.

What is a “proxy cube”?

A proxy cube is a cube where the cards are printed play pieces designed for drafting and casual play. The goal is a clean, consistent cube that shuffles well, reads well, and is easy to update.

What is your main product?

Our flagship is simple: $100 for a 540-card cube. It is the classic “ready for 8 players” cube size and a great value if you want variety without making balance a full-time job.

Do you offer other cube sizes?

Yes. We offer multiple sizes so you can match your group and your vibe. Smaller cubes draft more consistently, larger cubes draft with more variety.

Do you sell curated cubes, or do I bring my own list?

Both.

  • Curated cubes: pick a proven list and draft. Great if you want a strong environment with minimal tinkering.
  • Bring your own list: upload your cube list and we print it as a cohesive, consistent stack.

What comes with my order?

You receive the printed cards for your cube. Most players sleeve cubes, so we design for the “in sleeves” experience.

If you need extras like basics, tokens, or duplicate copies, you can add them depending on your cube setup.

Do you include basic lands?

Optional. Many cube groups keep a basics station separate from the cube, others include basics so the cube is fully self-contained. We support either approach.

Can I order duplicates of specific cards?

Yes. If your cube uses multiples (for example, extra fixing, extra removal, or doubling up on archetype glue), you can include duplicates in your list.

Can you print a cube as a gift?

Yes. A printed cube makes a fantastic gift because it is instantly draftable and easy to personalize. If you want it to feel extra “gift-ready,” consider including a short note or a printed card list in the box.

Cube lists and customization

What list formats do you accept?

We support common cube list exports and simple text lists. If your list has card names, we can usually work with it.

Can I use a Cube Cobra list?

Yes. If you have a Cube Cobra list, export it and upload it. If your export includes duplicates, versions, or special notes, keep them in, we will follow your list.

What if my list has specific versions, arts, or printings?

If you care about exact versions, provide notes in your list or during upload. If you do not specify, we prioritize readability and consistency over matching a particular printing.

Do you support custom cards or custom art?

Yes, as long as your file is print-ready or your card data is clear. Custom cube cards are a big part of what makes cube fun.

Can you help me tune my list?

We can point you toward common cube math and best practices, but list design is personal. If you tell us your goals (power band, archetypes, group size), we can suggest adjustments that improve draft consistency.

Can I combine two lists into one cube?

Yes. Many players start this way, for example merging a “classic” shell with a personal spice package. Just remember the tradeoff: mixing lists can dilute archetype density unless you tighten the overlaps.

Do you offer recommendations if I am new to cube?

Yes. If you are new, start with a curated list at a clear power band (beginner-friendly, mid-power, high power) and draft it a few times before you start making big changes. It is the fastest path to a cube that actually plays well.

Printing, cardstock, and quality

What does “quality printing” mean for a cube?

Cube players notice three things fast:

  • Readability: crisp text, clear mana symbols, clean contrast.
  • Consistency: stable sizing and alignment across the whole cube.
  • Shuffle feel: smooth handling in sleeves for repeated drafts.

That is the stuff we optimize for.

What cardstock do you use?

We use premium cardstock chosen to feel right in-hand and to perform well in sleeves. The goal is a cube that drafts like a cohesive product, not a stack of mixed paper.

Do you use a protective finish?

Yes, we use a smooth protective finish so your cube feels good to shuffle and holds up to repeated play.

Will the printed cards match official cards perfectly?

They are designed to feel great for cube, especially in sleeves. Exact “match” can vary because paper, finish, and lighting all affect how cards feel and look, but the intent is a consistent, high-quality draft experience.

How accurate are colors?

We aim for strong, consistent color across your full cube. That said, screens vary a lot, and what looks perfect on one monitor can look different on another. If you have critical color needs (custom cards, brand colors, or specific art), include a note and we will do our best to keep it consistent.

Do you offer foils or special effects?

Some special finishes may be available depending on the product options. If you are chasing a specific “premium” feel, the best first upgrade is usually a quality protective finish that improves shuffle and durability.

Can you print full art, borderless, or special frames?

Yes, if your files or card layouts support it. Just keep in mind that high-style frames can trade off with table readability. For cube, readability wins more drafts than fancy borders.

Card backs, sleeves, and double faced cards

Do you recommend sleeving a cube?

Yes. Sleeves improve shuffle feel, protect cards from wear, and make your cube feel consistent even after dozens of drafts.

Do you print card backs?

We offer cube-friendly back options. Most cube groups sleeve everything the same way, which makes back choice less important and keeps the experience consistent.

Can I use custom backs for my cube?

Yes. Custom backs are great for cube identity, especially if you want your cube to feel like a real “set” you built.

How do you handle double faced cards (transform, MDFC)?

You have a few solid options, and which one is best depends on how your group plays:

  • Single-face print: print the front face only, and handle the back face with a reference method at the table.
  • Two-card method: print each face as its own card, so drafters can pick the version they need.
  • House-rule friendly: many cubes simplify DFC handling to keep drafts moving.

If you want, tell us how your group handles DFCs and we will recommend the cleanest approach.

Will DFCs cause issues with hidden information?

In sleeves, most cubes play smoothly. The important part is choosing a method your group agrees on so gameplay stays clean.

Do you print tokens, emblems, or reminder cards?

Yes, and it is often worth it. Tokens and reminders reduce table friction, especially for synergy-heavy cubes.

Turnaround and shipping

How fast is turnaround?

We prioritize quick production so you can draft soon. Exact timing depends on current volume and your order details, but the goal is always fast, consistent output.

Do you ship internationally?

Shipping availability depends on destination. If you do not see your country at checkout, contact support and we will tell you what options exist.

How is my cube packaged?

Your cube is packaged to protect it in transit and to keep the stack consistent. If you want “gift ready” packaging, add a note at checkout.

Can I split shipping to two addresses?

Usually orders ship to one address. If you need split shipments, contact support before ordering and we will confirm what is possible.

Reprints, issues, and returns

What if there is a printing issue with my order?

Tell us what happened and include a few photos. If there is a defect or an error on our side, we will make it right.

Do you offer reprints if I update my cube?

Yes. One of the best parts of a printed cube is easy iteration. If you swap 20 cards after a few drafts, you should not need to reprint 540.

Can I reorder the same cube later?

Yes. Reordering is easy, especially for curated cubes and saved custom lists.

Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?

If production has not started, we can often adjust. Once production starts, changes may not be possible. If you need a change, reach out as soon as you can.

Do you accept returns?

Because cubes are custom printed, returns are limited. If there is a quality issue or a production error, we focus on fixing the problem, usually via reprint.

Cube night logistics

How many players does a 540-card cube support?

A typical 8-player booster draft uses 360 cards (8 players × 3 packs × 15 cards). A 540-card cube gives you room for variety while still keeping archetypes supported.

Is 540 too big for my group?

Not necessarily. A 540 is great if you want variety and replayability. If your group is usually 2 to 4 players and you want tighter synergy, a smaller cube can feel more consistent night-to-night.

Do you collate packs for me?

Most cube groups collate at home because it depends on how you draft (booster, Winston, grid, sealed). We can provide guidance for simple, repeatable collation if you want.

What sleeves should I use?

Use sleeves your group likes and can replace easily. The key is consistency. Same sleeve type across the whole cube keeps the shuffle feel uniform.

Do you include a printed card list?

If you want a printed list, request it. Many cube owners also keep a digital list for easy updating and tracking changes.

How should I store my cube?

A sturdy deck box, cube box, or modular storage works well. The main goals are organization (so setup is fast) and protection (so your cube stays consistent over time).

Accounts, privacy, and support

Do I need an account to order?

You can usually order without an account, but an account helps if you want to save lists, reorder, or manage reprints.

Do you keep my cube list private?

We treat your lists as your content. If you want your list to remain private, we respect that. If you want to share your list publicly, that is your choice.

How do I contact support?

Use the site contact form or the support option in your order confirmation. Include your order number and a short description so we can help quickly.

I have a question that is not listed here. What should I do?

Send us a message. Cube is personal, and we are happy to help you pick the cleanest path for your group and your goals.

Still deciding?

If you want the simplest, most “ready to draft” option, start with the $100 540-card cube and sleeve it up. If you already have a list you love, upload it and let’s turn it into your group’s new favorite format.
